Founded in 1996 by Artistic Director Gabriela Granados, the American Bolero Dance Company explores the rhythmic intricacies and song literature of Flamenco, the refined and stylized repertory of Clásico Español and the traditions of Escuela Bolera, with the flair and electricity of Broadway productions. ABDC has enjoyed rave reviews from both the press and audiences world-wide. In 2002, ABDC established its Spanish Dance School.

FlamencoLIC 2017

FlamencoLIC, is a series of concerts featuring a variety of dance and music styles from Spain, taking place at The Secret Theatre, an intimate black box setting that will allow audiences to experience the performances up close and personal.  Directed and choreographed by Gabriela Granados, FlamencoLIC showcases popular flamenco and rarely performed dance genres Clásico Español and Escuela Bolera (an 18th century form of Spanish classical dance), along with arias and duets from Spanish operetta (or Zarzuela), performed by some of the finest flamenco and classical music and dance artists from around New York City.

Featuring dancers Gabriela Granados, José Moreno, Elisabet Torras, Erika de Julia, Debra Anich and Adriana Jacinto; flamenco singers Alfonso Cid and Aurora Reyes; baritone Peter Castaldi, mezzo-soprano Darcy Dunn; flamenco guitarists Basilio Georges and Raphael Brunn;percussionist Guillermo Barrón; pianist William Hobbs, and violinist Hojin Kim

 Additional choreographies by José Moreno will also be featured.


FlamencoLIC is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council, and by the Queens Council on the Arts, with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, with support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and administered by the Queens Council on the Arts.
